Wearing the Sandals

You take a risk when you step out into the world. Poor J. Alfred Prufrock approached it with such temerity he wondered if he dare eat a peach.

Then there’s Audrey Hepburn:

I believe in pink. I believe laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing. Kissing a lot. I believe in being strong when everything seems to go wrong. I believe happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day. I believe in miracles.

She gives a reason to put on the sandals and walk! Who wouldn’t want to join her?

Two different perspectives. T. S. Eliot’s anti hero despairs at futility stranded in immoveable fear. Audrey Hepburn brings peace through wholesome action.

The sandals of peace move us forward through engagement regardless of the circumstance or situation. We stand at the gate awaiting an encounter.

What are we waiting for?
